New Summer Exhibition! Paintings by Keenan Derby

Gallery 17 proudly presents paintings by Utrecht’s own Keenan Derby.   The show opens this Friday, July 3!  Please join us for an Artist Reception from 6:30 - 8:30 pm July 3.  The work will remain on display through July 31st, 2009.

Keenan Derby explores the world of color and mark making in his large scale abstract works.  His focus is in bridging the gap between the tangible world and the nature of emotions by means of gestures within the layers and layers of paint.

Demos!

We also had our first paint demo last sunday which focused on Acrylic painting and process.

This shot is about half way through the painting and focused on developing the objects within the space of the canvas.

Take control of your drying time!  Company representative from Atelier will demonstrate the unique properties of their Interactive line of acrylic paints, which have a longer open working time than traditional acrylics.  Learn the benefits of this long working time, how to “unlock” the paint once it has dried, and techniques that were previously not feasible with traditional acrylics.
