Mother’s Day Cardmaking and other events!

We have some interesting things for you to do this weekend, especially for Mother’s Day! Everyone here has created thier own hand made cards for the holiday and we are inviting you to do the same. All supplies are available for purchase, and we have set up a work station just for this project.
We are going to be holding this event all weekend (10th-11th) so if you miss it today you have another chance tomorrow. This is a great little something to do for Dad and the kids, especially on a rainy day like today.
Here are some cards we’ve made to get your creative juices flowing-

All of these were made with decorative papers available here in the store, colored papers, glues and tapes, all available here in the store.

Next we have a Mold Making demonstration. This is really cool! Life Cast mold making company will come in and everyone gets to make a mold and cast of their hand! So yes it is hands on, and prepared to get a little dirty maybe. The demo is on Sunday, May 25th from 12-4pm. And since this is such an involved and long demonstration we are asking for a registration fee of $5 per person. If you are interested please come into the store and register for this event!

Lecture Seminar at Utrecht Art Supply in Baltimore

Today local artist Larry Stevens graced us with his presence and his knowledge of the art world. This was a very successful and informative seminar, and we look forward to having Mr. Stevens return for other events.

Mr. Stevens and a very intersted group of attendees.

Larry Stevens spoke for two hours on preparing yourself for the real world as an artist. This included networking yourself, speaking about your art work, promoting yourself, and marketing yourself to galleries and other venues.

If you have any suggestions for artist talks or if you would like to lead a dicussion forum pertaining to a specific topic, please let us know, and we would be happy to have you come in.

NEW - Seminar/Lecture @ Utrecht Baltimore - “After Schooling Seminar: How to start and how to get there”

Join us Sunday, March 30th, from 1-3pm as local artist Larry Stevens goes over some of the things that are NOT taught in art school, such as what you do when you’re finished and a job prospect or grad school have not claimed your time. This is perfect for students or artists who have started to get lost out there in the real world.

Larry will talk about marketing yourself, building networks, and making your art in the real world.

Demonstrations

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but, we have had to cancel the book binding demonstration. We really apologize to everyone who was geared up for it. I was myself. We will re-schedule and thank everyone for their interest. If you have signed up for the demo, we hope that you will be able to make it to the next book binding demonstration. An email and announcement here on the blog will let everyone know when it will take place.

However– Our next demonstration is a Mat Cutting demo with a representative from Logan Graphics. This is one of those really handy skills that can actually save you costs on matting and framig your work. We will also have a 20% off sale on all mat cutters in the store the day of the demo for your shopping pleasure.

Again if you would like to sign up or register for this event, please leave your name and email and reference mat cutting demo under “Comments”. Hope to see everyone there.

Free Book Binding Demonstration

I know it’s a ways off, but we thought this would be a real interesting demonstration and so we’d start promoting it a.s.a.p.

On Sunday, Feb. 10th from 1-3pm here at Utrecht Art Supply in Baltimore, Pamela Brumbley will be going over basic techniques for book binding. She will also cover Coptic and Japanese styles as well. You are not required to bring anything to the demo, just yourself.

We will also have a sale the day of the demonstration on all decorative papers to get you started! So take 20% off ALL Black Ink decorative papers!

Please feel free to sign up under “Comments” by just leaving your name and email address. And if there is a specific type of arts medium you would like to see demonstrated in the store please leave us a comment as well. We are open to (almost) all ideas, and some up coming demos over the next few months will be Air Brushing, and Matt Cutting, just to name a few.

Look forward to seeing everyone here!
