Gallery 17 proudly presents paintings by Utrecht’s own Keenan Derby.   The show opens this Friday, July 3!  Please join us for an Artist Reception from 6:30 - 8:30 pm July 3.  The work will remain on display through July 31st, 2009.

Keenan Derby explores the world of color and mark making in his large scale abstract works.  His focus is in bridging the gap between the tangible world and the nature of emotions by means of gestures within the layers and layers of paint.

Do stop in on Saturday, June 27th between 1:00 and 3:00 to see Val Lucas demonstrate her block printing and letterpress techniques.  You will also be able to enjoy her framed prints in person as they are showcased in our Gallery!  Come with lots of questions! 

Summer is here and we are rolling out demo’s, classes, and gallery openings to make the most of it. And the best part is they are all free! So come on out and have some fun and keep checking back because we are not done scheduling events and if you are interested in hosting an event in our store just let us know.

Come hear Christine Walsh of Alpha Graphics explain how to best prepare your work for reproduction, whether it is a fine art giclee print or photographs for your portfolio. She will also be talking about Alpha Graphics super popular rub on letters!

Patricia Tamariz will be demonstrating transfer techniques and journal making. Bring your questions and curiosity.

Saturday, August 15th, 2009  1:00-3:00pm

Take control of your drying time!  Company representative from Atelier will demonstrate the unique properties of their Interactive line of acrylic paints, which have a longer open working time than traditional acrylics.  Learn the benefits of this long working time, how to “unlock” the paint once it has dried, and techniques that were previously not feasible with traditional acrylics.

Gallery 17 is excited to present woodcuts and watercolors by Val Lucas along with intaglio and silkscreen prints by Michael Moore.  Please join us for an artists reception Friday, May 15 from 7-9 pm.  The exhibition will remain on display through June 30, 2009. 

Val Lucas, owner of Bowerbox Press, combines her woodcuts with hand-set type and digitally designed plates.  Her prints are inspired by birds and historical printing techniques. 

Michael Moore, and MFA student at Towson University, is intrigued by geometric forms and designs and integrates them into his exploration of intaglio, silkscreen and mixed media images.
