Images from the Exhibit!

I want to thank everyone who submitted work, we will be announcing the winner very soon! I also want to thank everyone who came out to the opening. I know Peter Max is hard to pass up but it was great to see everyone, and meet a lot of new people. So with that in mind here are a few images of the exhibit.

Glass display cabinet for sale!

We are finally getting rid of our big 2 part glass display cabinet.  This is a great buy for anyone needing it for a project or if you know someone who is the retail business that is looking for one.  It’s a wood veneer, locking glass cabinet and if you come by the store you can check it our to your hearts content (sorry I don’t have any pictures of it).

ONLY $160.00!

However, you must be able to haul this cabinet out of here.  So if you are interested, make sure you have some strapping friends that can help you take it with you.  A truck would help too.

Utrecht Baltimore 229 West Chase Street, Baltimore, MD. 21201 Tel: 410.727.7004

Any inquiries ask for Jenny!

Gallery 17 @ Utrecht Baltimore

For those of you who haven’t been in the store lately, Gallery 17 is our in store gallery for local Baltimore artists.

Currently we are accepting wall hanging submissions for April, and 3-D work for the rest of this month, and maybe into April. Below you will find the submission form. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Remember that although we are not your typical gallery space that over 600 people come through these doors every week and a LOT of people look at the work hanging in the gallery space. So, although you may not think of it, if your work gets accepted you will get quite a bit of exposure.

And by the way work has sold out of the gallery… Amanda Achey sold a small but beautiful oil painting for $300! why not give it a shot.

Utrecht Art Supply in Baltimore needs you!!

Yes, artists, we need you.  I am looking for a few good people to help in the store, and if you are looking for some extra income, we can help each other.

There are a few things that I am looking for in an applicant so please pay attention-

1.  Visual arts background.  In college for arts, or, preferably, finished with school.  There are many instances where customers don’t know what they need, and you have to be able to figure out what that is.  You will also need to be able to show customers techniques and mediums, so be able to give 5 minute art lessons on almost everything.

2.  Retail experience.  You’ve used a cash register, handed cash, and have had the experience of selling something to someone.  (Please note that this is different from waitstaff.)

3.  Flexible schedule.

4.  Customer Service skills.  You will be working with the public, so you need to have a good attitude.

5.  Corporate experience.  This is not necessary but recommended.  This is a corporate business and it would help if you had worked with one before.

So, now that you know what I’m looking for, come in and see us.  If you have any questions please call us (410) 727-7004.  I will not be answering questions on employment through the blog, it’s just not personal enough, so if you leave a comment for this, please note that it won’t be answered.

If you’ve forgotten where we are, here’s a reminder!

Opportunities for you…

I’ve come to the realization that I’m only one person trying to cover some of the arts in the Baltimore area, and that I may need some help. It’s kind of hard to be in four places at the same time.

So…here’s my proposition to anyone interested. If you go to a gallery opening, or have a friend with some really interesting visual art, or if you know of new arts projects in the area, email us with some pictures, and supporting text and we will publish your thoughts, insights, and images here on the blog.

This is after all a community blog, so by all means the community should be involved!

Send any what you’ve got to store17@utrecht.com with Attn Allison in the subject line, and I will add it to the blog.

Essays, reviews, critiques, whatever you’ve got, bring it on!

Welcome to Utrecht Baltimore!

Managers Allison Pasarew (that’s me) and Robin Gravatt have been with the company for 5 years and 3 years respectively. We are dedicated to the Baltimore artist community and providing not only necessary materials but any resource that we can give.

Utrecht Baltimore is located at 229 West Chase Street, between Howard Avenue and Park Avenue. Utrecht Baltimore is a full service art supplies store carrying products from hundreds of national brands. We have an impressive stock of paints, brushes, and papers. Our canvases are excellent for any artist, and range in series from Studio to Artist’s all the way up to Master’s, an upper echelon professional quality linen and canvas.

At Utrecht Baltimore we have lots of knowledgeable staff here to help you find exactly what you are looking for. Jenny has also been with Utrecht Art Supply for five years and is a self taught illustrator. Cherri is our resident graphic designer, and can help you with any questions geared towards software as well.

If you are looking for art supplies or need any help with your next project do not hesitate to stop by and ask anyone here for help. We’d love to see you!
